5V REAL: 5G Volley Reality Experience & Analytics Live

5VREAL project focuses on studying and implementing a system for the acquisition, analysis and transmission of video and analytics in the context of volleyball. 

Abstract: Creating never-before-seen experiences for coaches, analysts, players, producers, storytellers and fans around the world. Unlocking the future of viewing sport through ultra-fast mobile networks (5G) by building a platform based on emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and Edge Computing. This is the goal of the 5VREAL - 5G Volleyball Reality Experience and Analytics Live project. It combines scientific and technological expertise in a partnership of academic and technology research institutions, an academic spin-off specialist in Computer Vision, one of the world's largest telecommunications groups, and a leading provider of broadcast and media production services. 5VREAL received an expression of interest from the Italian Volleyball Federation and tested the solution developed during the project with an installation in the FIPAV - Centro Pavesi arena.
