SERGIO POVOLI - YOUNG RESEARCHER AT FONDAZIONE BRUNO KESSLER
Sergio Povoli received a B.S. degree in Information and Communication Engineering in 2019 and a M.S. degree in the same field in 2021, both from the University of Trento (Italy).
He is currently an AI Research Scientist at the Technologies of Vision (TeV) unit of Fondazione Bruno Kessler (FBK), within the Digital Industry Center. His research focuses on computer vision and its applications to industrial contexts, with a strong interest in bridging academic research and technology transfer.
His research primarily focuses on applying computer vision techniques to support industries across various sectors, with particular emphasis on quality control, security checks, and agritech. He has contributed to several industrial projects involving multi-camera systems, RGB-D data, and scene understanding. More recently, he has also explored the integration of Vision-Language Models (VLMs) in robotic applications as a complementary research direction.
He is also one of the 25 selected FBK Science Ambassadors, a program aimed at enhancing science communication skills among young researchers to effectively share research outcomes and their impact on society.
His research interests include 2D and 3D scene understanding, multi-camera systems, robotic vision, and the use of AI for digital transformation across sectors.
