SpinRetail is a project coordinated by Spindox Labs for the implementation  of a smart system which aims to monitor and analyse users behaviour within retail outlets. IoT technologies and Cloud computing are enabling the design of novel "smart" solutions to track people and goods within retail stores, identifying and preventing theft at the point of sale and managing adaptively the supplying and monitoring of shelves.

The role of TeV in the project is to cooperate on the two main objectives: people tracking and object detection / tracking / classification. This will be done with the use of Computer Vision algorithms, in particular with Deep Learning techniques. The fusion with IoT technologies developed by E3DA permits to improve the object classification task.

The project push forward research in object detection, one of the most fundamental and challenging problems in computer vision: to locate object instances from a large number of predefined categories in scenes.
