REPLICATE4CH will create an ICT platform to produce digital twins of museum artifacts and use them within a Simultaneous Localisation and Mapping (SLAM) framework to create an XR experience. Objects will be reconstructed using the photogrammetry pipeline developed in REPLICATE, composed of Structure from Motion, Multi-View Stereo, Poisson Meshing, Texturing and Polygon reduction algorithms. XR experiences will be built upon these digital twins and designed to tell a story in which the visitor is actively involved. The main challenges of this project will be the design of robust SLAM algorithms usable by anyone in adverse lighting conditions and crowded environments.
