Tuscan islands can be seen, but on very special days, considering actual smog and similar.

I remember such a day two years ago, from which I saw a very similar panorama from a similar height.

I’ll try as soon as the weather is such to take a picture from that mountain.

Aestetically plesant? Certainly not to me. Apply the same stretching effort and you bring Monte Fasce (nearby Genoa: 832m) to challenge Mt. Everest. By the way: have a look at very nice pictures from Monte Fasce at http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monte_Fasce.

agh, grazie per il suggerimento.

Stiamo lavorando per migliorare il posizionamento delle etichette; ottenere automaticamente risultati esteticamente piacevoli e allo stesso tempo il piu` possibile completi non e` banale (talvolta ci sono centinaia di toponimi teoricamente visibili e spazio solo per una decina di scritte o poco piu`) e spesso questi obiettivi sono in contrasto fra loro.

Attualmente il sistema prevede la possibilita` di inserire etichette orizzontali, anche se spesso preferisce la soluzione verticale proprio perche` risulta cosi` possibile mostrare piu` toponimi. Recentemente abbiamo forzato il sistema ad inserire i nomi dei paesi sempre in orizzontale e in bianco, vedi ad esempio qui. Ci e` stato suggerito anche di usare scritte inclinate a 45 gradi, vedremo…

grazie per l’idea di sfasare le scritte in altezza in modo proporzionale all’altitudine!

le scritte verticali sono veramente scomode da leggere.. hai fatto una prova mettendole orizzontali? Capisco che in caso di affollamento bisogna sfasarle in altezza (rispecchiando magari l’altezza della cima), ma la leggibilità generale dovrebbe guadagnarci…
